Bees and flowers have co-evolved for more than 10 million years

Flowers benefit from pollination while the bees are rewarded with pollen and nectar. Successful pollination typically increases fruit set, resulting in higher yields of better-formed, larger, more flavourful fruit that ripens faster and lasts longer. Just a few things that benefit from honey bee pollination: cherries, pears, apples, apricots, plums, filberts, blueberries, cranberries, raspberries, kiwi fruit, black currants, pumpkins, squash, melons, beans, cucumbers, selected vegetables being grown for seed, canola, mustard, clovers, sainfoin, bird’s-foot trefoil, plus many flowers and herbs.
