The Threat of Neonicotinoid Pesticides on Honeybees, Ecosystems, and Humans

[NGO Viewpoint] The Japan Endocrine-disruptor Preventive Action programme published a report on the impacts of the very large scale use of neonicotinoid insecticides (Nitenpyram, Thiamethoxam, Thiacloprid, Dinotefuran, Clothianidin, Imidacloprid and Acetamiprid) in Japan on ecosystems, honeybees and human health in Japan.

The report concludes that there is urgent need for government actions:
1. The Japanese government should put an immediate halt to all unnecessary use of pesticides.
2. The use of neonicotinoid should be temporally stopped and a government initiated action should be started before severe damage is caused to the plentiful ecosystems in Japan.
3. The Japanese government should consider the negative impact throughout the ecosystems and carry out emergency fact finding survey’s immediately.
